MIRANDA THOMASTON
WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

miranda

Graduated 2015

My name is Miranda Thomaston and from the time I was a little girl, I had a niche for arts and crafts. It wasn’t until my junior year of high school that I was exposed to interior design and from there I knew that this was what I was supposed to be doing. I am currently going into my senior year at Western Michigan University and am looking forward to rounding out the last three years of schooling with my senior thesis and being President of our Student Organization.

My design philosophy is to design a space for individuals to be able to grow in or benefit from. I would like to give back to the users of the space by creating a design that is a part of their memories forever as well as make positive experiences while their time is being spent there. I hope to use my senior thesis to explore natural rehabilitation for young individuals with self-image problems.

I have interned with Ethan Allen in Kalamazoo, MI and Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, IL thus far. I look forward to continuing my knowledge by interning with my school’s facilities department for this Fall and Spring. I have also worked the Front Desk at the Park Forest Aqua Center and currently do marketing and networking for them through social medias. I strive to enter into a field of healthcare, education, or facilities and am hoping to return home after graduation to Chicago to work and also be with family and friends. Outside of design, I enjoy to run and take Zumba classes as well was watch movies.
