Part of AUID’s mission is the commitment to increase and foster the education of future interior designers. In keeping with that mission, AUID provides annual scholarships to deserving interior design students at our institutions to continue the development of qualified interior design professionals.

EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY
Mary graduated this past April from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. During school, she was a part of the honors college and received highest honors through her numerous volunteer hours, including work with Habitat for Humanity in Guangzhou, China, a senior thesis on the impact of sustainable design in learning environments, and additional academic achievements.
Outside of design Mary enjoys being in nature either backpacking, kayaking, or swimming. Due to her love of the outdoors, sustainable design elements are at the forefront of every design decision. She has recently passed the LEED Green Associate exam and will be tackling the LEED Accredited Professional and NCIDQ exams next.
She has gained experience in the higher education design field as an Interior Design Assistant at the University of Michigan where she has assisted on various projects and tasks including preparing furniture specifications, installation documents, space planning, and custom millwork designs. This summer Mary will be moving to Colorado to continue her career in the commercial design field with plans to pursue a master’s in architecture in the near future.
