We exclusively use LVT in our rooms and everyone loves them. In fact, we’ve never used carpet in our rooms so noise has never been an issue. We are standardized on Tandus iD Latitude Wood and we have no issues with scratching. We’ve used it in some common space too, but residence hall corridors are always Tandus Powerbond.

Copy/paste a great convo from the emails here:

    Hi Friends,

Wondering what software/application you use for project management purposes to track all your various design/renovation/construction projects. Ideally, it would be a one-stop shop for all important project-related data and tracking. The ability to collaborate or invite team members is a plus. Does anyone just absolutely LOVE their project management tool and want to share!?! I’m also open to suggestions of what to avoid!!! 😆

    Thanks much!

My favorite is a CA platform called MetaBIM; I just got if for my campus and in process of setting it up. When done, happy to show you what 50-interrelated databases in the cloud can do. In a nutshell, it is a one platform for all facilities, property, leases, drawings, floorplans, etc. collection. Best, Kat

The Univ of TN is in the midst of changing from Archibus to Dash software. Since Dash won’t do everything we want it to do, our PM team has been looking at software more specific to what we do. We’re finding that not many interface nicely with Dash. After weeding through several, we are strongly considering Kahua which appears to provide 99% of what we need.
To maximize the software, we would require contractors to use it. IF they choose to continue to use Procore, PlanGrid, etc, they can but they would be doubling their efforts since they’ll have to use ours.
    Thank you,
    Barbara

All of our studios (ceramics, paint, metals) have sealed concrete. The corridor has epoxy terrazzo and the gallery space has bamboo.

I’m looking for a new notebook for us to order in the future. What qualities do we like? I definitely want a sturdier cover/back. Do people like lines or are we open to dot and grid?

I had to write a “report” of my travel. I basically copied information from the program booklet. Is anyone interested in me sharing that here? I’m of the opinion “work smarter, not harder” on tedious, checkbox assignments. I don’t think anyone actually reads these travel reports, it’s just to make sure you actually attended. Happy to share the document for you to use or edit into your own words.

Anyone else interested in a topic about BIFMA ratings? Also a spin-off on educating campus clients on why standards are set the way they are.

How’s everyone’s merch holding up in the wash? Any issues to note?

I have used some Coalesse, specifically really recommend the Bob chair in a high and low back. It really breaks up the look of the full “blockier” (if you will) full-arm paneled pieces. It has an aluminum base and flared arms and I find that students really like them. We have also used the Lagunitas lounges, both as booths and as stand-alone lounges. I do not put those in areas with hard surface flooring since the fabric does essentially go directly on the floor.

Hello fellow conference-goers! Anyone flying in on Saturday? Looking to see if anyone wants to share a ride from the airport.
